What a fun weekend! On Saturday we went to hear the Orquesta Filarmónica Juvenil. They were quite impressive. The group of about 30 musicians consisted of adolescents and young adults age 13-24. The repertoire included pretty difficult pieces by Schubert and Bach.
It was a very enjoyable evening and it reminded me how much I like to listen to classical music. It also made me think that I would like to be able to master a musical instrument one of these days. Maybe in my next life…
Today we went to the circus. Circo Zuary is in town and we were entertained by artists from all over Central America, Mexico and Canada. We saw clowns, acrobats, Elasti-Girl, snake charmers and more. It was a great experience and Sophia loved every minute of it. How can you not? We imagined what it would be like for these artists to have a high quality trampoline and for us to have real stands. The gradas we were on didn’t look too stable and every time someone stepped on the wooden planks, we moved. First down and then up. Luckily there was a brace on either side that held the planks in place and helped us stay on.
And tomorrow is the opening ceremony of the Annual Poetry Festival. Poets from all over the world are expected to arrive and to recite their work. We can’t wait.
